Burnsville Wood Flooring is a wood flooring company based in Burnsville, Minnesota, with 20+ years of work on hardwood in this market. We refinish, repair and install solid and engineered floors in houses, townhomes, condominiums and commercial spaces, and we do that work ourselves rather than subcontracting it out. The crew that walks a job at the estimate is the crew that lays the final coat on it.

We are a flooring specialist rather than a general remodeler, and that is a deliberate choice. Wood floors reward a contractor who has seen the same conditions in the same climate several hundred times — who knows what a January hygrometer reading means for a floor that looks like it is failing, and what a spring slab reading means for a lower level somebody wants hardwood in.

Our Approach

Worker laying a spacer batten across a stack of white oak boards acclimating inside a Burnsville house before any board is fastened down.

Every job starts with measurement rather than with a quote. On the first visit we read the indoor relative humidity with a hygrometer and write it down, because wood flooring is specified for a band most heated Minnesota houses drop out of in January, and a floor planned around a mild autumn afternoon is planned around the wrong house. Before an installation, the moisture content of the flooring and of the subfloor are checked against each other rather than afterward. Before we quote a refinish on engineered flooring, the wear layer gets measured, because past a certain thickness there is nothing left to sand.

What comes back to you is meant to be checkable. The quote carries a written grit sequence and finish schedule, so the work can be measured against something rather than taken on faith. A recoat is priced honestly against a full sand-and-refinish, including the times the cheaper option is the right one. Winter gapping gets measured and explained before anybody calls it a defect, since a good share of it closes again by June.

Dust containment goes on every sanding job, along with a straight answer about what it does not catch. Where a job is upstairs in a townhome or condominium, the association and board paperwork is sorted out before the crew arrives rather than halfway through. And where a floor has been damaged by water, it is photographed and documented for the claim before anything is torn out.

What We Do

We handle hardwood floor refinishing, hardwood floor repair, water damaged hardwood floor repair, hardwood floor installation and hardwood stairs, along with screen and recoat work, parquet floor refinishing, gym floor refinishing and commercial wood flooring. That covers most of what a wood floor needs across its life, from the first installation through decades of recoats to the repairs that keep an old floor worth keeping. If you have a floor you are unsure about, we would rather come and read it than guess over the phone — the estimate is free, and so is being told you do not need the bigger job.
